Japanese company Mizkan have pocketed the Branston brand from debt laden Premier Foods. The price is believed to be in the region of £92.5m according to Sky News. The move was not wholly unexpected as Premier Foods have recently sold a number of brands that it believed to be non-core – these included Robertson’s marmalade and Gale’s honey.
Premier Foods has owned the Branston brand since 2002 when it acquired it from Nestle – the sale onto Mizkan is thought to result in 350 jobs being transferred to Mizkan.
